1. The body is a unit - anything that happens in one part of the body has the potential to impact every other part of the body.

For example: the lowest part of the head and the lowest part of the spine move similarily and interdependently in the CranioSacral system. Therefore, a head injury can cause dysfunction in the low back and hips and likewise an injury to the lower spine can cause headaches or pain in the neck.

2. Structure and function are inter-related.

In order to function at their best, the structures of the body must be true to form. CranioSacral Therapy gently manipulates the bony structures of the body in order to bring full function back to the muscles, organs and connective tissue.

3. The body is a self-correcting organism. When given the right environment and opportunity, the body will heal itself.

CranioSacral Therapy imparts information to the body so as to remind the body where perfect balance is, and then shows it how to get there. The body will remember and correct itself. With treatment a patient can expect decreased pain, the ability to breathe more deeply, increased range of motion, increased mental focus, increased joint function, and better posture.

Therapist's Message

Having had first-class training in CranioSacral Therapy, I am very passionate about my work. Twenty years as a therapist has afforded me the opportunity to treat everything from birth trauma to chronic headaches. I have treated the very young and the very old. Whether you suffer from stress, musculo-skeletal pain, or emotional trauma - all are treatable with CranioSacral Therapy. Because I am a Registered Massage Therapist in BC, CranioSacral Therapy is covered under massage in your extended health care package. I look forward to serving you.

CranioSacral Therapy Explained

When we are formed in the womb, our brains and spinal cord are formed first. Next a seamless piece of connective tissue is created. The muscles, bones, and organs then form in and about the protective, supportive environment provided by this connective tissue.

In Utero and throughout our first 10 years of life, what we experience creates neurological pathways in our brain. These physical, mental, and emotional experiences, if experienced as a stress or trauma, can also create twists or torques in our connective tissue - what is known as "cellular memory". Torque is a result of resistance, in this case to a negatively perceived experience that we have denied or forgotten.

In our next 10 years and subsequent decades of life, our experiences reinforce the original created neurological pathways and connective tissue memory. Unless resolved, we tend to repeat these created and reinforced patterns since our torqued connective tissue now influences everything we experience.

CranioSacral Therapy facilitates the release of these old patterns and torques and therefore frees up energy in the body.
